We&#8217;re not great ones for New Year&#8217;s resolutions, but let&#8217;s try. How about we resolve to stay substantive, refrain from abusing one another, and maintaining a generosity of spirit when interacting with others? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lots of things get <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncei.noaa.gov\/access\/monitoring\/dyk\/monthly-releases\" title=\"updated\">updated<\/a> in January and we&#8217;ll try and keep up, though possibly with less fanfare than in previous years. In other news, we await the (<a href=\"https:\/\/subscriber.politicopro.com\/article\/eenews\/2025\/12\/22\/its-the-gold-standard-of-us-climate-research-contrarians-could-write-the-next-one-00701430\" title=\"supposedly imminent\">supposedly imminent<\/a>) release of a new &#8220;National Climate Assessment&#8221;, and the (<a href=\"https:\/\/climateworkinggroup.org\" title=\"supposedly imminent\">supposedly imminent<\/a>) engagement of the authors of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclimate.org\/index.php\/archives\/tag\/doe\/\" title=\"DOE\">DOE &#8216;climate report&#8217;<\/a> with the extensive critiques they received. Meanwhile <a href=\"https:\/\/wcrp-cmip.org\/cmip-phases\/cmip7\/\" title=\"CMIP7\">CMIP7<\/a> has started, and we expect results to trickle into the databases throughout the year &#8211; dig into some of the literature to get a sense of what will change (better models, improved forcings, etc.). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eppure si riscaldi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> <\/p>\n<!-- kcite active, but no citations found -->\n<\/div> <!-- kcite-section 26304 -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This month&#8217;s open thread.
