The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.realclimate.org\/index.php\/archives\/category\/extras\/glossary\/\">glossary<\/a> that we already have is a good start, but we are all busy and it&#8217;s hard to find the time for extending this. <\/p>\n<p>But there are also a number of external web pages which provide climate-related glossaries, such as the  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cpc.noaa.gov\/products\/outreach\/glossary.shtml\">NOAA<\/a> (they also have a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncdc.noaa.gov\/paleo\/ctl\/glossary.html\">seperate page <\/a>for paleo-stuff), the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bom.gov.au\/climate\/glossary\/\">Bureau of Meteorology<\/a> (Australia, and there is even <a href=\"http:\/\/www.epa.vic.gov.au\/climate-change\/glossary.asp\">one<\/a> by the Australian EPA), the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.epa.gov\/climatechange\/glossary.html\">Environmental Protection Agency<\/a> (EPA, the U.S.), and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wrcc.dri.edu\/ams\/glossary.html\">Western Regional Climate Center<\/a> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wrcc.dri.edu\/\">WRCC<\/a>, the U.S.). <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Glossary_of_climate_change\">Wikipedia<\/a> also has a glossary for climatological terms. <\/p>\n<p>For those who seek the explanation for more bureaucratic terms, both the <a href=\"http:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/environment\/climat\/glossary.htm\">EU<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/unfccc.int\/essential_background\/glossary\/items\/3666.php\">UNFCCC<\/a> provide glossaries that may be useful.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, there are some nice resources available, such as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eoearth.org\/\">the Encyclopedia of Earth<\/a>. <\/p>\n<!-- kcite active, but no citations found -->\n<\/div> <!-- kcite-section 588 -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Recently we received a request for setting up a glossary-only search mechanism, or perhaps one web page with a long list of glossary entries with hot links to full explanations.
