\nI read this quote on a wall on Mark Cane’s<\/a> office at LDEO (Columbia) many years ago and always wondered where it came from. He found it as an epigram in a book on ‘Stochastic Differential Equations<\/a>‘ by Bernt \u00d8ksendal where it is sourced to a sign outside the mathematics reading room at Troms\u00f8 University<\/a>. The actual source appears to be a 1951 report<\/a> on an education workshop by Earl C.
