Shameless Self Promotion

28 Oct 2005 by group

Vote for RealClimate!

No, we’re not going to abandon our policy of steering clear of political commentary, but yes, you can nonetheless vote for us!

Some of you may have noticed the new logos up in the upper right hand corner of the RC webpage. As a followup to our selection last month for the “Science & Technology Web Awards 2005” by Scientific American, we are pleased to have now made it to the final round of Deutsche Welle’s 2005 Weblog Awards (for those of you not familiar with them, Deutsche Welle is sort of the German equivalent of Britain’s BBC World Service).

If you like our site, please go ahead and vote for us (note: for your vote to be counted you’ll need to vote in at least one of the nine “Best Journalistic Weblog” language categories and all four international categories). We have been nominated in both the “Best Journalistic Blog (English)” and “Best Weblog” categories. So if you really like us, you can even vote for us twice :) .

Update 11/06: For those visiting our site for the first time: a good starting point for getting to know us would be our post on Hurricanes and Global Warming – Is There a Connection?

Update 11/21: Well we didn’t win, but the winning blogs are really quite good so there’s no shame in that. The two winners in the categories we were nominated for are Global Voices Online and a Spanish-language blog Mas respeto, que soy tu madre. Enjoy!

I just hope you win :-)

Only about 300 votes needed to the top, so vote guys!

    Well did my part!

Thanks again for this site… it even helps me planning lectures at university level in Sweden.

Preferred by a slight margin “fairy tales of the underground” to that of the overground, and voted same — sorry gentlemen. Even with translation, it’s an interesting and often funny blog.

As for the SciAm vote, the http://www.phys.unsw.edu.au/einsteinlight/ is an awesome teacher of that and related subjects. If you can create some interactive unsw-like pages to teach some of the theory and your studies (and even contrast the points of the skeptics), you would increase your reach. I know expense and time are prohibitive … just a suggestion.

You’re up against Body and Soul. Jeanne’s the most humane blogger out there that I’ve seen. So one of you two got my Best English Blog vote and the other got Best Blog. Illogical? Sure.

I voted a straight ticket for you. GW is THE TOPIC of our age (perhaps all human ages – if that “runaway” thing kicks in (see previous topic, #74 & 75)), and RC is great!

The blog is very well produced graphically and has some heavy hitters on the board.

I had a look at the comments section on the voting page and noticed that our “good friend” Lubos Motl and an anonymous member of Steve McIntyre’s tiny fan club (identified as “climate scientist” — ha!) had posted some anti-RC trash talk. It seemed ineffective, so I didn’t post a correction.

    I voted :D

I notice that you delete critical comments.
